Why you should do *it* for longer.

Scrub babe, scrub. You've got a dirty mind.
Scrubbing for a short time has plenty of benefits — instantly softer skin being the obvious one. But scrubbing consistently over time? That's where the real results are. Here's everything you need to know.
What is exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells. These cells build up on the surface of your skin, creating a barrier that clogs pores, dulls your complexion, and stops your other skincare products from absorbing properly. Clearing them away regularly keeps your skin looking and feeling its best.
What are the immediate benefits of exfoliating?
When dead skin cells are buffed away, your skin instantly looks and feels smoother. My scrubs exfoliate with coffee grinds and natural acids, but they also moisturise with cold-pressed oils including sweet almond, macadamia, and coconut. The result is skin that's smooth, soft, and hydrated from the moment you rinse off.
What are the long-term benefits of exfoliating?
Consistent exfoliation is where the real transformation happens. Over time, regular exfoliation gives you a brighter and more even skin tone, smoother texture, and can help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, scars, and stretch marks.
It also helps your other skincare products work harder. When you remove the top layer of dead skin cells, serums, moisturisers, and treatments can absorb more deeply and deliver better results.
What does scrubbing help with?
Quite a lot, babe. Here's a breakdown by area.
For your body
Regular body exfoliation can help with dry skin, body breakouts, keratosis pilaris, scars, stretch marks, and uneven texture. Consistent massaging and exfoliation helps fade the appearance of marks and smooth over rough patches anywhere from the backs of your arms to your butt.
My Original Coffee Scrub is the classic: coarse coffee grinds for physical exfoliation, cold-pressed oils for moisture. Use it 2–3 times a week and leave it on for a few minutes to get the most from the caffeine. For a scrub with chemical exfoliation built in, my Glycolic Body Scrub adds glycolic acid to the mix for deeper clearing, or the Rosehip Body Scrub & Cleanser doubles as a body wash and delivers the skin-restoring benefits of rosehip oil alongside the exfoliation.
For your face
Pimples form when pores get clogged with dead skin cells, sebum, and bacteria. Exfoliating regularly clears that build-up before it becomes a breakout, and helps fade post-acne marks faster by speeding up skin cell turnover.
My Original Face Scrub uses finer coffee grinds suited to facial skin alongside sweet almond oil and kaolin clay. Use it in the shower 2–3 times a week. For a more active approach, my Brightening Vitamin C Mask combines glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid with vitamin C in a 5-minute mask that exfoliates and brightens at the same time.
For your lips
Your lips are skin too, and they deserve the same attention. Exfoliating your lips removes dry, flaky skin and keeps them smooth and soft — which also means lip colour goes on more evenly and lasts longer. My Original Lip Scrub uses raw sugar and coffee grinds to buff lips smooth, with macadamia oil and beeswax to hydrate at the same time. Use it before lip colour or whenever your lips need a reset.
How often should you exfoliate?
It depends on your skin. If you have extra dry skin or want faster results, 2–3 times a week is the sweet spot. If you have sensitive skin or are new to exfoliation, 1–2 times a week is a good starting point and you can build from there.
One thing that's consistent: exfoliation is a year-round habit, not a seasonal one. In winter it keeps dry, flaky skin at bay. In summer it clears away sweat, sunscreen, and excess oil. Soft skin is a 365-day mood.
What happens if you don't exfoliate?
#letsbefrank, the world won't end if you miss a session. But skipping exfoliation regularly leads to dead skin build-up, which causes clogged pores, dullness, dryness, and over time, uneven skin tone and premature ageing.
Ready to commit? Take a before photo when your scrub arrives. Then take your after photo at one month, two months, one year. We've got a good thing going, babe. Let's keep it going. And glowing.
